Francis Chalifour was born and raised in Quebec. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Montreal and his Master’s degree in Education from the University of Ottawa, focusing on how the mourning process affects children’s learning. His first published work was the French novel Zoom Papaye. His first novel in English was After, which was shortlisted for a Governor General’s award. He has contributed articles to The Walrus, Maclean’s, The Toronto Star, Le Devoir, La Presse, and Professionally Speaking. He has also hosted a radio program and worked for the Ministry of Education of Ontario and TFO, Ontario's public educational TV. He now shares his time between Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto, where he teaches, writes and eats lots of chocolate cake. Way too much!

Francis Chalifour est né et a grandi au Québec. Il a un baccalauréat en enseignement de l'Université de Montréal et une maîtrise en éducation de l'Université d'Ottawa, où il a étudié plus particulièrement l'influence du processus de deuil sur l'apprentissage des enfants. Son premier livre en français est le roman Zoom Papaye. Son premier roman en anglais est After, qui a été finaliste pour les prix du Gouverveur général du Canada. Il a aussi écrit des articles pour The Walrus, Maclean’s, The Toronto Star, Le Devoir, La Presse, et Pour parler profession. Il a aussi animé une émission à la radio et a travaillé au ministère de l'Éducation de l'Ontario et à TFO, la télévision publique et éducative de l'Ontario. Il partage maintenant son temps entre Montréal, Ottawa et Toronto, là où il enseigne, écrit et mange beaucoup de gâteau au chocolat. Beaucoup trop!
